Building Resilience and  Making Friends 

2-Days- Saturday & Sunday Sept. 16th -17th from 9 am to 4 pm 

 Program for children ages 6 to 12 ,


LOCATION                   Manotick Public Library – Main Meeting Room

COST                            $ 395 per child for both days.  All Private Health Insurance Plans Accepted.                                                   This is also a tax deductible activity.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

In this program, children will learn skills needed for: successful communication and self-control, and creating healthy friendships. Program activities are based on Positive Psychology, Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy methods. The objectives of the group are to help children learn how to:

·           Cope with fears, worries, and strong emotions

·           Use active listening and effective self-expression

·           Apply strategies to become more empathetic

·           Problem-solve and find win-win solutions

·           Identify elements of positive peer relationships

·           Demonstrate leadership and team-building skills

·           Reduce stress through relaxation techniques

·   Cat Relaxation Scale- awareness of body sensations

·   Everyday exercises - deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation

·   Mind Masters exercise- “spaghetti toes and jelly belly”

·    Mandala drawings - to quiet the mind

·    Unbalakiki- learning to set aside worries and negative feelings

·   Helpful and unhelpful thoughts- “stop-go” technique

·   Adjusting unhelpful thoughts
